Are you impacted by the ULEZ?
To prioritise a healthier and happier planet, the UK government alongside Transport For London has introduced an Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in the capital. Find out exactly what that means for you below
What Is the ULEZ?
24 hours a day, every day of the year (except for Christmas day) drivers will have to pay a £12.50 daily charge if they drive inside the ULEZ. The charging hours are from midnight to midnight.

What if my car fails to meet ULEZ standards?
If your vehicle does not reach these standards then you will have to pay the daily charge. It is worth noting that lorries, buses, mini buses, coaches, and specialist heavy vehicles are not impacted and do not have to pay.
If your vehicle fits the ULEZ standards, you must register it on the TFL website, here.
Emission Zone FAQs
What's The Minimum Emission Standards For The ULEZ?
Cars need to meet the minimum emission standards in order to be exempt from this. In real terms, this means any petrol vehicle needs to be Euro 4 (NOx), and any Diesel has to be Euro 6 (NOx and PM).
Which areas does the ULEZ cover?
The zone previously covered all of the areas within the North and South Circular Roads, excluding the roads themselves. In August 2023, a ULEZ expansion came in, and the zone now covers every London Borough.
What if I don’t pay my ULEZ charge?
If you don’t pay your daily charges and you drive within the zone, you will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). For most domestic vehicles, this is £180, but can be halved if you pay the fine within 14 days of receiving it. Discover what sort of PCN you could get for your specific vehicle here.
How do I pay my ULEZ charge?
You can set up Auto Pay so that you are billed automatically. This means you will never forget to pay, you won’t get issues with Penalty Charge Notices, and you can register up to five vehicles.
You can set up your Auto Pay easily here.
